40 Years in the Trenches
The DNA of Text The Universe LLC wasn't formulated in a corporate design studio. From starting out on a St. Louis construction crew at age 16 to becoming the Lead General Contractor on HGTV’s Brother vs. Brother, our founder has spent four decades building in the real world.
In 2015, out of a strict necessity for heavy-duty, job-site knee protection, our first prototype was born. We don't just engineer this equipment—we rely on it in the field every single day.

Where the TKC engineering legacy began.
Before the TKC Extreme was engineered to bridge attic joists, the Uncle ToeKnee Plumber Mat was designed to solve the everyday pain of working at ground level and inside cramped spaces. Built for versatility, this dual-purpose mat is an essential tool for plumbers, handymen, and everyday tradespeople.
- Heavy-Duty Kneeling Platform: Use it as a highly supportive, dense kneeling base. It effectively distributes your weight and significantly reduces direct impact pressure on your knees and feet when working on hard tile, concrete, or wood floors.
- Reversible Lumbar & Back Support: Need to wrench pipes inside a tight cabinet? Simply reverse the mat, lay it flat, and slide it under you. The design provides a crucial barrier against hard cabinet bases, reducing back strain and providing comfortable lumbar support while you work underneath a sink.
Filling the Cabinet Gap
Standard kneeling pads leave a offset void between your lower back and the floor when working under a sink. The Uncle ToeKnee Plumber Mat is designed to fill that exact gap. Acting as a supportive ramp, it allows you to slide up and into the cabinet with ease. This creates a more comfortable barrier against hard cabinet lips, providing crucial lumbar support and significantly reducing awkward installations.
The Elevated Kneeling Radius
While standard knee pads protect your kneecaps, they do nothing for the intense weight forced onto your feet and ankles when crouching. At 22 inches long and elevated to a 3.65-inch peak, this ergonomic, half-round radius design was engineered specifically to solve that problem. By elevating your lower legs, it distributes your body weight evenly across your shins. This design significantly reduces the crushing pressure and fatigue on your feet, providing a much more comfortable and stable platform for extended floor work.
